General recommendations

  • Comfortable and warm clothing such as a waterproof jacket, gloves, a hat and trekking shoes are essential for a good day of hiking. If you do not have the necessary equipment, you can rent it in El Chaltén.
  • It is essential to bring sunscreen, since even a day with little sun can suffer burns.
  • Whenever you go to do an activity, remember to bring food according to how long it will last. From meats, which you can get in our restaurant, to snacks such as bars or fruits.
  • Refillable water bottle. Single-use plastic bottles are prohibited, but the bottle can be recharged in all waterways.
  • Camping and walking outside the permitted areas and trails is prohibited.
  • Please DO NOT feed the local fauna.
  • It is forbidden to make fire under any circumstances.
  • Smoking is only allowed in exclusively designated areas, please have Consideration of the environment and other visitors.
  • We ask that you please bring all the waste generated during your activity back to the hotel for a correct deposition.
  • Before going out to carry out any activity, we recommend downloading a map to your phone, since you will not have a signal on all tours. You can also take a printed map from the hotel reception.
  • Finally, we want you to take into account that in El Chaltén the cell phone companies do not have mobile data and the Claro company, in particular, does not have a signal either.

Mirador de Los Cóndores y Águilas

Mirador de Los Cóndores y Águilas

This trekking circuit is the shortest in the range of possibilities that offers El Chaltén. From the Mirador de los Cóndores you can take the best panoramic photo of the entire valley with the hills and needles, the town and the river De Las Turns.

Ten minutes before getting there, take the detour to the Mirador de las Águilas. Once you have reached this panoramic point you will be able to enjoy an excellent view of Lake Viedma, Cerro Pirámide and Bahía Túnel. It is a 20-meter waterfall that is only 4km from El Chaltén, traveling a part by vehicular route, and another part by path of the Park National.

Este trekking llega hasta las orillas de la Laguna del Cerro Torre, luego de recorrer 11 kilómetros partiendo desde El Chaltén. Durante esta caminata se puede contemplar el trayecto del Río Fitz Roy, el cual tiene su origen en la Laguna homónima.

Laguna de los Tres

Laguna de los Tres

It is one of the most popular and well-known treks in El Chaltén. During this tour you can appreciate the forests of Nothofagus, the native fauna and the imposing Cerro Fitz Roy (3405 meters high at its highest point) reaching the base of it. During this you can visit the Capri Lagoon 7 km away, being the first sight panoramic of the hill.

Continuing on the same trail for an hour further you get to camp Poincenot. Crossing this point begins the last hour of ascent to reach the Laguna and Glaciar de los Tres, which is the point closer to be able to observe Cerro Fitz Roy for walkers, "so close as if we could touch it ”. In this beautiful place you will have a great variety of unforgettable panoramic views. This point can also be reached from Hostería El Pilar (17 km from El Chaltén, on the RP 41 heading north), on a path that goes through forests and the panoramic point to the Piedras Blancas Glacier. Loma del Pliegue Tumbado

The Loma del Pldamientos Tumbado is a viewpoint from where you can get a 360º panoramic view, overlooking Lake Viedma, the valley of the Cerro Torre and Fitz Roy.

La Loma is the only panoramic point from which manages to simultaneously visualize both peaks. It takes 4 hours to get to summit, the first 2 hours being the same path that leads to Laguna Toro and the remaining 2 hours a bifurcation of it to the right.

Lago del Desierto Provincial Reserve - Scenic Route 41

The Lake of the Desert is located 37 kilometers north of the town of El Chaltén. It is reached by taking Provincial Route 41, which It advances along the Río de las Vueltas. 4km from the start you can stop to visit the Chorrillo del Salto waterfall that is within the Los Glaciares National Park, continuing you reach the Laguna Cóndor.

They will cross rivers of thaw that feed the aforementioned lagoon, among which it is worth highlighting the Río Eléctrico and the Río Toro. During the transfer to the Lago del Desierto Provincial Reserve you will be able to observe the different faces of Cerro Fitz Roy. The landscape is becoming more green as the protected area is reached, and the vegetation becomes more leafy. The lake, elongated, is surrounded by a thick forest of lengas and ñires, sandwiched between mountains. This has a north-south length of 12 kilometers and approximately 1 kilometer wide. Dense is the flora that populates its surroundings: lengas, ñires, various shrubs, ferns, mosses and orchids, among other species; all thrive in the humid microclimate of the forest. From there you can start the hike to the Huemul glacier of only 1 hour of one way (you must pay an entrance fee) or to Punta Norte, go fishing sports (with permission), take a navigation on the lake, snorkel, etc.

Sailing in Lago del Desierto

Navigation from the Punta Sur dock, we sail for about 50 minutes watching the Huemul and Crestón glaciers to disembark at the north end of the lake where you disembark 15 minutes. Then we sail towards the Vespignani Glacier sector, which is located in the middle of the lake.

It has three trails, for this excursion we recommend doing the intermediate trail that takes us with a slight and constant incline in just 15 minutes to a prominent vantage point overlooking the Vespignani Glacier. They will also be able to choose or complement the other routes by retracing the interpretive trail that visits the wooded and coastal area of ​​the booking. Or take the more demanding trail that will take about 45 minutes to slow step to overcome 150 meters of unevenness and access the foot of the glacier Vespignani, with an incredible height view of the north face of Mount Fitz Roy.

Mountain Biking

Snorkeling
